Write The Word: Parenting by the Book

Write The Word
Proverbs parenting homeschool homeschooling

Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and
do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.
Proverbs 1:8-9

When we chose Proverbs for Write the Word in July, we focused on verses that applied to us as women. As we read through this powerful book, we see lots of wisdom to spur us on in our parenting, as well.

This month, we will write our way through Proverbs for a second time – focusing on truth for teaching and training our children.

There are lots of great parenting books out there (and I’ve read many of them), but none that eclipse the book of Proverbs. Are you ready to be challenged to parent by the book – God’s book?

I hope that as you Write the Word with us this month, God equips you with wisdom for those challenging situations in both discipling and disciplining your precious ones. I’m also praying He spurs you on to pray these verses over your children.

Praying God’s Words back to Him is powerful. Let’s jump right in using the verse highlighted above.

Lord, thank you for Your Word. Thank you for the timeless truth, encouragement, conviction, and help that I always find here. Thank you particularly today for the practical helps found in the book of Proverbs. I ask, O God, that You would teach me from this powerful book this month so that I, in turn, can disciple and discipline my children wisely. Jesus, give my children hearts and minds that will listen and learn. I pray each would respect the loving authority of their parents. Let our instruction always be prompted by your Spirit. Like a garland on the head or a chain around the neck, I pray that Your Word would be evident in the lives of my children. Bless them, Father, and make them a blessing to others.
