Write The Word: HONOR

Write The Word
Write The Word scripture journaling Bible honor

We honor our parents, our veterans, and those who lead us and sacrifice for us. When we honor someone, we show them respect. We revere them. We are thankful for them. The word honor is also used to refer to one’s reputation. All of us are blessed when we are honored by those we love and invest in.

But, of course, the highest honor of all is reserved for our great God. John said it well in Revelation 4:11:

You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created and have their being.

As we seek to honor others and to live honorable lives ourselves, may we prayerfully consider how our daily lives honor the One who created us and redeems us. He is the genius who not only thought up every element of creation, but had the power to speak it all into existence. Because of Him, we have life today and confident hope of life for all eternity.

Our Write the Word verses this month all include the word HONOR. Meditating upon these scriptures will spur us on to honor others and be women of honor ourselves. These verses provide insight into raising honorable children. They remind us of our great and holy God, and the ultimate honor He is rightfully due.

As always, we encourage you to write the Word, pray the Word, and endeavor to live the Word.

As you write out each verse or passage, please ask God for an honorable assignment for the day – His direction for an action or attitude that would characterize you as a woman of God, a woman of honor. As we continue to abide in Him and in His Word, we are refined and becoming more like Jesus … and subtle (or not-so-subtle) changes should be happening in our lives. Our responses to challenges, our patience in all circumstances, our choice to honor others before ourselves, and our desire to make much of God in all things – these things all testify to the transformation taking place in our lives, day-by-day and even moment-by-moment.

My personal prayer is: More Jesus, less Laura! Maybe you can substitute your name and make that your prayer, too.

Are you ready to pray for a daily honor assignment?
