But I will sing of your strength,
in the morning I will sing of your love;
for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.
Psalm 59:16
A good day begins with a good morning. And to have a good morning, we need to establish a first-things-first rhythm and routine.
Choosing to give God the first part of our day changes everything else that happens during the course of the day. I can say that with confidence, because I have learned that truth the hard way as I have lived over five decades on this planet!
Making time with Jesus a priority has long been key in keeping me calm on ordinary days, and is absolutely vital in keeping me from panic in these extraordinary days.
Many reading the blog today are regular readers and users of our ‘Do It’ List – you have used and benefitted from our monthly download. As you provide feedback of how it has blessed you, we are so honored to be a blessing to sisters in Christ who, just as we ourselves, are trying to balance their home responsibilities with a heart for serving God and others!
If you are new to this free tool (and some of you are even new to home education), we hope and pray our ‘Do It’ List will help you as you work to create some added stability in the midst of interruptions and revisions to life as you have known it.
There’s little we can do to change the world outside, but establishing some rhythm and routine inside our own homes will keep order, calm, and peace. It will create a sense of security for our children, and for own hearts and minds.
Please download and print this free resource. Tweak it. Change it. Make it work for you. And, if you are a regular user of our ‘Do It’ List, please consider blessing another mom with this free tool. Perhaps sharing this might be one way God would want you to love someone who finds herself struggling to find a “new normal” in the midst of these uncertain times.
We know there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution for every family, so as always, we’ve provided a blank version of the ‘Do It’ List if you want to think and pray through creating your own personal tailor-made routine to suit your circumstances.
Friends, I genuinely believe it will be possible for “future me” to look back on “today’s me” and clearly see how God used this time to refine me, draw me to deeper intimacy with Him, and provide new ways to love others well. Will you join with me in praying this is not squandered time, but time the Lord redeems for our good and His glory?
