This month we’re writing an entire chapter of God’s Word, instead of drilling down on a single keyword. I’ve chosen Colossians 3 because it includes so many of my favorite verses – including my life verse:

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly
 as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom,
 and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs
 with gratitude in your hearts to God.
Colossians 3:16

Paul wrote this letter to the 1st-century Colossian Church, but it’s packed with truth for living well in the 21^st. As we read and write Colossians 3 this month, I’m extending an additional challenge to memorize it, as well. Here’s our triple call:

• Read It!
• Write It!
• Hide It!

If you’ve been printing our monthly bookmark, you’re already accustomed to reading and writing the Word. For 2018, we want to also challenge ourselves to hide it in our hearts. Most of us have memorized individual verses, but there is great value in memorizing longer passages.

By adding just one new verse each week, we can memorize the entire chapter of Colossians 3 in just a few months! Are you ready to try?

Our Sunday Soaking for January 7 will include a free download with printable verses to help you memorize Colossians 3. And, as usual, each Sunday Soaking devotional will unpack selected verses from those we are writing together this month.

Since Colossians 3 includes only 25 verses (and our bookmark will include verses for writing for each of January’s 31 days), we will be writing a few key verses more than once.

I’m praying that as we read it, write it, and hide it, we will also be spurred on to live it!
