I love the name of our sponsor: A Reason For. It means that the Word of God is foundational to all the company does, every product they sell.
That is so important to me because my heart’s desire is that everything I do—teaching, writing, publishing, and every other –ing, including blogging—would be all about the Bible!
A Reason For‘s very first product, the one that started it all, is A Reason for Handwriting. Students who use the program are mastering a crucial life skill, but because each week’s lesson is built around writing letters and words that make up a key Scripture verse, they are also learning so much more than penmanship.
They are hiding God’s Word in their hearts.

Manuscript Christmas Border Sheets
Cursive Christmas Border Sheets
What I love about these Border Sheets is that they aren’t busy work, or just another assignment that gets graded and filed. Instead, each one becomes a powerful means to share the truth of Scripture and create lasting memories.
Here are just a few ideas for using these special Border Sheets to make God’s Word A Reason For Christmas this year:
- Scan in the completed border sheet and reduce. (At postcard size, four should fit on a page; make them smaller or larger to suit your purposes.) Print on card stock, trim to size, and attach to a tin or plate of cookies. These can be shared with neighbors, church staff, piano teachers, soccer coaches, or anyone else you want to bless. What could be sweeter?
- Attach a Border Sheet to an 11×17 sheet of card stock—red or green would be cheery and seasonal—and laminate to create durable placemats. Each child can create several pieces of artwork to make a full set for your Christmas table (and Grandma would love a set for her house, too).
- Create a Christmas Scrapbook for each child. Every year, your kids can color, sign and date a new Border Sheet. You’ll have a visual record of their penmanship progress.
- Write out the complete Christmas story from Luke 2, with one or two verses per Border Sheet, and use them to create a Family Scrapbook. Each child can do multiple pages to complete the entire passage. For years to come, this lasting memento will make a wonderful holiday coffee table book.
- Purchase decorative frame with a colorful mat, and create a Christmas heirloom to display during the holiday season.
- Create a letter-size document (landscape orientation) and add two scanned Border Sheets on the lower half of the page. Print on white card stock, then cut them apart to create note cards for sending Christmas thank you notes. They should fit into invitation-sized envelopes.
- Print scanned Border Sheets on card stock, cut to size, and laminate. Punch a hole, tie on ribbon to create ornaments, and use them to add a small A Reason for Christmas tree to your holiday décor.
- Use the same idea from #7 above, but create a wreath instead.
- Add a scanned Border Sheet to the bottom half of a letter-size document (portrait orientation). Print on card stock to create the ultimate personalized Christmas cards.
- Share a photo showing how you used the Border Sheets—your own idea or one of ours—to share the message of God’s love this Christmas. Post it on social media with the hashtag #AReasonForChristmas.
After the holidays are over, we’ll search Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram for the most artistic, creative use of the Border Sheet. Our chosen winner will receive a $50 prize in his choice of an Amazon gift card or credit toward A Reason For products!
